Flying to ITALY...

Next week I'll be in Padova ...

I'll visit Padua and take somephotos there.
I want to see
"La Specola" e la riviera San Benedetto and if possible
The Orto Botanico di Padova,
which is the world's oldest academic botanical garden that is still in its original location. (Officially, the oldest university botanical garden is the Orto botanico di Pisa,
which was founded in 1544; however, that garden was relocated twice
and has only occupied its current,
and now-permanent, location since 1591.)
It is located in Padua, Italy and was founded in 1545.
The garden, affiliated with the University of Padua,
currently covers roughly 22,000 square meters,
and is known for its special collections and historical design.

And hope to visit Venice :) for you all...

Some photos from my daughter's visit...

Being in Venice ?

(Venezia) is one of the world's greatest pedestrian cities. Whether it's sparkling in late spring sunshine or shrouded in winter mist, this city will enchant you in every way. No automotive vehicles are permitted within the city of Venice, which lies offshore on a series of islands.

Everything in the city is transported by boat from the mainland and through the cities many canals to its destination.

The fact that there are no cars, buses, or motorcycles on Venice's narrow streets make it a perfect place to walk around and will enjoy the old city sights.

See you soon ;) ...

Ladies and Gentlemen ...

Gentleman
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The term gentleman (from Latin gentilis, belonging to a race or
"gens", and "man",
cognate with the French word gentilhomme and
the Italian gentil uomo or gentiluomo),
in its original and strict signification, denoted a man of good family,
analogous to the Latin generosus
(its invariable translation in English-Latin documents).
In this sense the word equates with the French gentilhomme (nobleman),
which latter term was in Great Britain long confined to the peerage.
The term "gentry" (from the Old French genterise for gentelise)
has much of the social class significance of the French noblesse or
of the German Adel, but without the strict technical requirements
of those traditions (such as quarters of nobility).
This was what the rebels under John Ball in the 14th century meant
when they repeated:
When
Adam delft and Eve span,
Who was then the Gentleman?
John Selden in Titles of Honour (1614),
discussing the title "gentleman", speaks of "our English use of it"
as "convertible with nobilis"
(an ambiguous word, like 'noble' meaning elevated either by rank
or by personal qualities)
and describes in connection with it the forms of ennobling in various
European countries.
To a degree, "gentleman" signified a man with an income
derived from property, a legacy or some other source,
and was thus independently wealthy and did not need to work.
The term was particularly used of those who could not claim nobility
or even the rank of esquire. Widening further,
it became a politeness for all men, as in the phrase
"Ladies and Gentlemen, ..."
and this was then used (often with the abbreviation Gents)
to indicate where men could find a lavatory,
without the need to indicate precisely what was being described.
In modern speech,
the term is usually democratised so as to include any man of good,
courteous conduct, or even to all men
(as in indications of gender-separated facilities).
See them around you ... forever !

Stop the Canadian Horse Slaughter!

Stop the Canadian Horse Slaughter!
New hidden camera footage from the
Canadian Horse Defense Coalition
shows shockingly inhumane and cruel treatment of horses
being slaughtered for human consumption.
Footage shot by hidden camera at Natural Valley Farms
in Sasketchewan Canada shows
the slaughter house worker is not always able to stun the horses properly
to render them fully unconscious before they are slaughtered
by slitting their throat.
The footage also showed horses slipping on the kill pen floor,
which appeared extremely slippery.
"Its legs are spinning around; it's like it's on ice.
The legs are just spinning around in circles, it's trying to go backwards,
it's trying to go forwards — it's just sheer terror, sheer panic," said
a veterinarian who watched the footage on videotape.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency allows for about 5% of animals
to wake up during the slaughter process.
"There are parts of the animal that are still moving that
let you know that for at while at least, it's conscious," he said.
Other violations in the video of Canada's food inspection act including:
the transportation of animals on double-decker trailers;
horses transported with their horseshoes on and not separated
(they hurt each other otherwise);
the transportation of horses across the U.S./Canadian border (illegal)
and horses unloaded at night without supervision.
The footage also showed evidence of the transportation of lame,
blind and starved horses (including a horse with a visible tumor
and another with eye cancer)
as well as the transportation of a very pregnant mare,
and the discovery of a full-term foal in a rendering pit
that had been eviscerated by animals.
Finally the video alleges that the horses are not being provided food or water
as they wait overnight in pens, are too densely packed.
We are collecting signatures to raise awareness and
solidarity around this horrendous issue-- not enough people know about this!
Sign and pass on to friends!

Single-horned 'Unicorn' deer found in Italy
By MARTA FALCONI, Associated Press Writer Wed Jun 11, 3:06 PM ET
ROME - A deer with a single horn in the center of its head — much like the fabled, mythical unicorn — has been spotted in a nature preserve in Italy, park officials said Wednesday.
This undated photo provided by the Center of Natural Sciences in Prato, Italy, Wednesday, June 11, 2008, shows a deer with a single horn in the center of its head. The one-year-old Roe Deer - nicknamed 'Unicorn'' - was born in captivity in the research center's park in the Tuscan town of Prato, near Florence, Gilberto Tozzi, director of the Center of Natural Sciences, said. He is believed to have been born with a genetic flaw; his twin has two horns.

♥ CHOOSING CLOTHES

Are you one of the thousands of people who eagerly
follow every new fashion that appears?
Or are you one of those who go to the shops and just
buy whatever they can find in their size that suits them?
Or perhaps you order from a mail-orde catalogue,
and then have to send everything back because nothing fits?
Whatever kind of shopper you are,
ONE THING IS CERTAIN.....
Everyone finds clothes really important.
Accoring to a recent survey, people spend more
time either buying clothes, or thinking about
buying them, or looking at them in shop windows -
than they do on most other products, apart from food.
And the reason is obvious.
Clothes are an important part of our appearance.
At work - you may need to impress a customer, or persuade
the boss that you know what you are doing,
and clothes certainly help.
Well-dressed people, so they say, get on in the world.
And as far as attracting the opposite sex is concerned,
clothes also play a vital role.
If a friend who has been wearing the same old jacket or
the same ol dress suddenly appears in the latest fasion,
you can be sure that romance is in the air. And apart from
work and romance, there are the influences of sport,
music and leisure in the way we dress.
So excuse me while I put on my apron and training shoes.
I'm just dashing off for some fast
window-shopping.

Fazıl Say and sharks – reflections and predictions
Fazıl Say, Turkey's most celebrated concert pianist recently tested the waters of political commentary by putting his toe in and found – Allah, Allah! – that there were sharks in the water ready to eat him alive.
Say's mistake was that he should have remained absolutely silent until his power base was strong enough to withstand the sharks and other attacks. It may be that he will never be able to speak about conditions in Turkey until he is living in a foreign country where there is real freedom of speech.
What he said was the truth, thinly obscured. The Islamists control about 70 percent of Turkey and they are gradually restraining thought and behavior more and more. Soon Say will be free to compose and perform whatever he wants, as long as it satisfies the Islamist bosses.
Eventually, the situation will become like that of Russia under Joseph Stalin (a last name the ruthless Georgian adopted meaning “man of steel.”) In that Russia, world-famous composers Serge Prokofiev and Dmitri Shostakovich had to satisfy Stalin's musical taste, and that of some other top officials in the Communist party. If they didn't, they were not just accused but convicted without trial of “decadent Western formalism” and they were forbidden to perform or to have their works performed. They were exiled from the creative musical world that they lived in and for.
Under those conditions, Prokofiev and Shostakovich recanted, perhaps more than once, admitted their “terrible error,” and composed something light and tuneful that would satisfy the good-old, honored and respected Joe Stalin (heart of steel, too) and his associates. The creative atmosphere was like being in Hell with an out-of-tune piano that had only black keys, and feeling there was no exit.
Say recanted. Said his remarks had been mistranslated or misinterpreted.

BEN ATATÜRK KIZIYIM

Devrimlerinle dururum ayakta,

İlkelerinle koşarım yaşama,

Almak isteseler de elimden haklarımı,
Buna izin vermem,
Ben ATATÜRK kızıyım.

Korkusuz yüreğinde umudu,
Çakmak, çakmak gözlerinde ışığı,
Yok etmek istiyorlar,
Kurduğun Cumhuriyet’i,
Buna izin vermem,
Ben ATATÜRK kızıyım.

İlk sen attın yüzümden peçeyi,
Yakıştıramadın bana kara çarşafı,
Yeniden giy diyorlar bana,
Buna izin vermem,
Ben ATATÜRK kızıyım.

Orta çağa döndürmek istiyorlar beni,
Laiklik bize göre değil diyorlar,
Getirmek istiyorlar şeriatı,
Buna izin vermem,
Ben ATATÜRK kızıyım.

Çember sakallılar sardı etrafımı,
Yobazlıklar aldı, medeniyetin yerini,
Yok etmeye çalışıyorlar beynimi,
Buna izin vermem,
Ben ATATÜRK kızıyım.

NE GÜZELDİR BAYRAMLAR...

HER GÜN BAYRAM
Zamanla anlıyor insan:
3-4 güne sıkışmış bir tatilden
öte bir şey bayram...
Hayata rasgele serpiştirilmiş ilahi ikramlar,
kıymet bilen kullara her daim bayram yaşatır.
Nefes almak bayramdır mesela;
günün birinde soluksuz kalınca anlar insan...
Görmenin nasıl bir bayram olduğunu
karanlık öğretir; sevmeninkini yalnızlık...
Sızlamayan her organ, hele de burun
direği bayramdır.

Bayramdır, elden ayaktan düşmemek,
zihinden önce bedeni kaybetmemek,
kurda kuşa yem olmayıp
"Çok şükür bugünü de gördük"
diyebilmek...
Sevdiklerinle geçen her gün bayramdır.
Küsken barışmak, ayrıyken kavuşmak,
suskunken konuşmak bayramdır.
Bir kitabı bitirmek, bir binayı bitirmek,
bir okulu bitirmek, kâbuslu bir rüyayı,

kodeste ağır cezayı bitirmek bayramdır.
Yoğun bakımda sancılı geceyi ya da
kangren olmuş bir ilişkiyi bitirmek de öyle...
Vuslat da bayramdır öte yandan...
Endişe içinde beklediğinden mektup almak,
telefonda ansızın sesini duymak,
Deli gibi burnunda tütenin
boynuna sarılmak bayramdır.
En acıktığın anda dumanı tüten bir somunun
köşesini bölmek, korktuğunda güvendiğine
sarılabilmek, dara düştüğünde dost kapısını
çalabilmek bayramdır.
Bir sürpriz paketinden çıkan hediye,
Tatlı bir şekerlemede
üstüne serilen battaniye,
Saçlarını müşfik bir sevgiyle
okşayan anne bayramdır.
"Ona güvenmiştim, yanılmamışım"
sözü bayramdır.
Hiç aldatmamış, aldanmamış olmak bayram...
Yeni bir sözcük öğrenmek,
bir tünelin sonuna gelmek,
müzmin bir işin kapısını çarpıp
uzun bir yola çıkıvermek bayramdır.
Zorluklara tek başına göğüs gerebilmek,
gereğinde haksızlığın üstüne yalın kılıç
yürüyebilmek bayramdır.
Yeni eve asılan basma perdeler,
alın teriyle kazanılmış ilk rızkın
konduğu çerçeveler, yüklü bir borcun
son taksiti ödenirken sıkılan eller bayramdır.
Evde yalnızlığı noktalayan insan nefesi,
akşam kapıda karşılayan yavuklu busesi,
sevdalı bir elin tende gezmesi,
nice adağın ardından
çınlayan çocuk sesi bayramdır.
Sonrasında gelen ilk diş bayramdır,
ilk söz bayram, ilk adım,
ilk yazı, ilk karne bayram...
Güne gülümseyerek başlamak bayramdır.
"İyi ki yanımdasın" bayram,
"Her şeyi sana borçluyum" bayram,

"Hiç pişman değilim" bayram...
Evlatların mürüvvetini görebilmek,
eve dolu bir torbayla gidebilmek,
konu komşuyla yarenlik edebilmek,
akşamları eskimeyen bir keyifle çay
demleyebilmek bayramdır.
Zamanı donduran eski fotoğraflara
nedametsiz bakabilmek, altı çizilmiş
eski kitapları aynı inançla okuyabilmek,
yol arkadaşlarının yüzüne utanmadan
bakabilmek bayramdır.
Alnı açık yaşlanmak bayramdır;
ulu bir çınar gibi ayakta ölebilmek bayram...
Bunların kadrini bilirseniz,
kıymet bilmeyi öğrenirseniz
her gününüz bayram olur.
Meraklanmayın, öyledir diye
size deli demezler.
Deseler de böyle delilik,
bayram artığı günlerdeki nankör akıllılıktan evladır.
Her gününüz bayram olsun!
