TREND ACCESSORIES

Nowadays young girls prefer crocheted accessories.
These earrings are for my dear daughters...
They like to wear colored flowers and
also fruits like some cherries.
Do you think to crochet one for yourself ???
These are all for
my dear Angels...

HERE two sisters are having FUN !

Even though they are all grown up, I still sometimes look at them

and see them as cute little girls smiling from ear to ear.

NOW THEY'RE ATTENDING UNIVERSITIES :)

I'd shot a few more photos that week in the past.
Their most serious food incident was eating cake!
I was not expecting any of my photos to be scanned,
but now thinking to take old pictures
in their frames and try to post my page.
Also remembered, my sewing machine had arrived thatday!
I'd got some fabric and thread at Fabrics
when I was in Antalya over the weekend.
YES
that present was a huge step for me!

♥ İSTANBUL...

Know Blue Mosque, in Istanbul ?
Istanbul is a wonderful city and the only one that is divided
over 2 continents, as the Bosphorus separates Asia from Europe.
Most of the old city is in the European part and definatly worth a visit.
The Topkapi museum, the Aya Sofia and the many huge Mosques
are impressive, but also the spice Bazar and grand Bazar are
the perfect places to realize that here 2 world cultures merge.
Do not forget to eat a cheap fresh caught and grilled fish in the harbour
The Blue Mosque was nicknamed so due to the many beautiful
blue mosaic tiles, though not much can be seen on this view.
Entrance is free and though
the Mosque is in use as a prayer room,
also non-muslims are welcome and photos can be taken.
The city is a mix of modern western shops and clothing
with traditional eastern culture.
The sound of the calls for prayers in the morning makes you realize that
Islam is the main religion here,
though for me the sounds are just as curious as
the Christian bells that wake YOU up
elsewhere in the world.
:-) RIGHT ?

LACES - CROCHET PATTERNS...

DO YOU LIKE COLORFUL LACES
OR WHITE ONES
IN YOUR ROOMS ?
HERE YOU FIND SOME PATTERNS...
No lace pattern-books have been found to have been published in Spain.
The needle-made laces which came out of Spanish monasteries in 1830,
when these institutions were dissolved,
were mostly Venetian needle-made laces.
The humble endeavours of peasantry in England
(which could boast of no schools of design),
Germany, Sweden, Russia and Spain
could not result in work of so high artistic pretension as that of France and Flanders.
In the style of the laces made at Venice, Genoa, Ragusa and other places;
these French imitations were to be called " points de France."
By 1671 the Italian ambassador at Paris writes,
" Gallantly is the minister Colbert on his way to bring the
` lavori d'aria' to perfection."
Six years later an Italian, Domenigo Contarini,
alludes to the " punto in aria," " which the French can now do to admiration."
The styles of design which emanated from the chief of the French lace centre.
In the 8th century good lace was made in Devonshire,
but it is only in recent years that to some extent
the hand lace-makers of England and Ireland
have become impressed with the necessity of well-considered designs for their work.
Silk pillow lace making is carried on in Spain, especially at Barcelona.
The patterns are almost entirely imitations
from 18th-century French ones of a large and free floral character.

CROCHETED CARDIGANS...

First I crocheted "flowers" then continued...
AND OTHERS...
SOME CROCHET TECHNIQUES FOR YOU...
Crocheters can create a finished edge on their work that makes
their projects more professional and finished looking.
Additionally, finishing the edge of an crocheted piece that will be
appliqued onto another, as in the case of Amigurumi faces,
will help to hide the thread and stitches used to applique those pieces.
The technique is quite simple and once you see it,
you will wonder why you hadn't thought of it.

HAPPY WOMAN'S DAY :))

GLOBAL MESSAGE FOR EVERYONE!
EDUCATION WILL CHANGE OUR LIVES.
International Women's Day On March 8th,
women around the world speak out about women's rights,
injustices and other issues facing them today.
This year, the 30th anniversary of International Women's Day,
focuses on violence against women.

What Do Women Want?
I want a red dress.
I want it flimsy and cheap,
I want it too tight,
I want to wear ituntil someone tears it off me.
I want it sleeveless and backless,
this dress, so no one has to guess what's underneath.
I want to walk down the street past
Thrifty's and the hardware store
with all those keys glittering in the window,
past Mr. and Mrs. Wong selling day-old donuts in their café,
past the Guerra brothers slinging pigs
from the truck and onto the dolly,
hoisting the slick snouts over their shoulders.
I want to walk like
I'm the only woman on earth and I can have my pick.
I want that red dress bad.
I want it to confirm your worst fears about me,
to show you how little
I care about you or anything except what I want.
When I find it, I'll pull that garment from its hanger
like I'm choosing a body to carry me into this world,
through the birth-cries and the love-cries too,
and I'll wear it like bones, like skin,
it'll be the god damned dress they bury me in.
by Kim Addonizio.
This one's pretty self-explanatory..

MOVIES ...

THE PATRIOT - MEL GIBSON
I like this movie too.
About a guy in the Revolutionary War.
Who makes really weird facial expressions when he runs in slow motion...
In Britain's American colonies,
the cry goes out for freedom as the air from Lexington
to the Carolinas burns hot with powder smoke and
cannon fire. But Benjamin Martin has had his fill of war.
A veteran of the fierce French and Indian conflict,
he has renounced fighting forever, retiring to his South Carolina farm
to raise his motherless children in peace.
Now the war has found his hiding place,
bringing its senseless cruelty back into his life and destroying
what he holds most dear.
And Benjamin Martin must take up arms
to fight again-to lead a makeshift army of brave farmers
and craftsmen against a relentless, overwhelming enemy
-in the blessed cause of liberty...and blood vengeance.

PEARL EARRING...

I watched a film yesterday.
"GIRL WITH A PEARL EARRING"
It was the story of a famous painting.
Poor young girl !
Was all that she wanted being a model ?
But it was impossible to escape some dirty thoughts around her…
She felt a terrible pain when the painter pierced her ear!
A jealous wife.. and they were all lonely !
Did he only paint the Picture for Money ?
Who sent her the pearl earrings at the end?
Have you ever watched this film?

POISON AND DEATH...

Posted by Picasa
The most poisonous animal is neither of the above.
Actually, it’s a little frog, measuring max 2 inches in length.
Now, most frogs produce skin toxins, but the dart poison frogs from
Central and South America are the most potent of all.
But the king among all them all is the golden poison frog,
scientifically called “phyllobates terribilis.”
A single terribilis contains enough poison to kill up to 100 people.
In case you think this is a typo, I really meant one hundred!
Would you want to argue that
it is definitely the most poisonous animal on Earth?

1. POISON FROG
2.BLUE RINGED OCTOPUS
3. BOX JELLY FISH
4. INLAND TAIPAN
5. DEATH STALKER
6. SYDNEY FUNNEL
7. HELODERMA SUSPECTUM

KNITTING IS EASIER !

I LOVE TO KNIT !
Welcome to the wonderful world of knitting!
Even if you’ve been here for a while,
there is always something new about this most fascinating craft!
There are different knitting patterns,
such as lace knitting or loop knitting.
I love to knit sitting in front of the TV in the evening,
traveling in the car to visit family, relaxing over breakfast or lunch
in the kitchen, when I'm on vacation, waiting
at the doctor's office, and even when the lights go out!
When I was growing up, my grandmother crocheted
the most beautiful tablecloths & doilies I had ever seen.
So many times I asked her to show me how she did that,
and she would patiently try to help me learn...
