Everyone finds clothes really important.
Accoring to a recent survey, people spend more

time either buying clothes, or thinking about
buying them, or looking at them in shop windows -

than they do on most other products, apart from food.
And the reason is obvious.
Clothes are an important part of our appearance.
At work - you may need to impress a customer, or persuade

the boss that you know what you are doing,

and clothes certainly help.

Well-dressed people, so they say, get on in the world.
And as far as attracting the opposite sex is concerned,

clothes also play a vital role.
If a friend who has been wearing the same old jacket or

the same ol dress suddenly appears in the latest fasion,

you can be sure that romance is in the air. And apart from

work and romance, there are the influences of sport,

music and leisure in the way we dress.
So excuse me while I put on my apron and training shoes.

SAND SCULPTURES

A sand carver at work during the Sand Sculptures Festival in Blankenberge in northern Belgium on Wednesday.A team of 50 carvers from around the world spent five weeks building a giant sculpture to mark

Belgium's 175th anniversary.

Twentyfour tonnes of sand were needed to complete the sculpture.

Albuquerque’s International Balloon Fiesta is the largest hot air balloon festival in the world and includes over 700 balloons representing many states and 22 countries.

Kite Buggying or Parakarting

is a fast growing sport that is great fun; it harnesses the power of the wind to propel a ‘pilot’ in a three-wheeled buggy using powerful ‘traction’ kites. The kite buggy is a light, purpose-built vehicle, it is single-seated and has one steerable front wheel and two fixed rear wheels. The driver sits in the seat located in the middle of the vehicle and accelerates and slows down by applying steering manoeuvres in coordination with flying manoeuvres of the kite.Kite Buggying can be practiced in any open area of ground such as large fields and airfields, however the best place to go is the beaches where the surface is usually flatter, smoother and the wind is stronger and more consistent. Buggy speeds of double the speed of the wind are common.

I knitted this handbag with flat-wide and velveting yarns.
Loops must be multiples of 10. 50-60 + 2 loops were enough for me.
Every two lines you'll change the yarns.
For the security of this handbag

I sewed a zip and I chose wooden handles
to carry it. I hope you'll like it then decide to try one for yourself.

BAKE ME! Crinkles ...

MMMM - I LOVE

cookies, lemon and these sound so simple and delicious.
These are two of my favorite cookies.

Russian Tea Cakes
(aka Mexican Wedding Cakes)
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, room temperature
1/2 cups powdered sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup pecans, finely chopped
1 cup powdered sugar for coating
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Beat butter in bowl until light and fluffy.

Mix in 1/2 cup powdered sugar and vanilla;

blend well. Stir in flour, then pecans.

Wrap dough in plastic and chill approx.

30 minutes.
Roll dough into 1 inch balls. Place on baking sheet,

1/2 inch apart. Bake cookies just until set or only slightly golden.

Allow cookies to cool slightly;
gently toss warm cookies in powdered sugar.

Lemon Crinkles
(This is a recipe from a grandma, who makes these in advance

and stores bagfuls in the freezer. She makes hers an almost glowing yellow,

but you can adjust the flavoring/coloring to your taste.)
3/4 cup shortening
1 1/4 cup sugar1 egg
2 tsp. lemon extract
1/4 teaspoon yellow food coloring
1/4 cup evaporated milk
2 cups sifted flour1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda1 tsp. salt
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; set aside.

Cream together shortening and sugar;

mix in egg along with lemon extract and food coloring.

Chill dough for 30-60 minutes.

Roll chilled dough into 1 inch balls with wet hands. Roll in granulated sugar and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Press with bottom of a glass to flatten slightly.

Bake at 350°F for 12-13 minutes.

*Making Ceramic Sculpture*

One of my friends joined Sculpture Studios - a dedicated space for teaching and making sculpture. They offer courses and workshops in small friendly classes to people of all levels of experience and ability. She said she was impressed an exhibition of ancient Egyptian artefacts from the sites of two lost cities found off the coast of Egypt six years ago.
Sculptures, tablets and everyday items are on display at the Egypt's Sunken Treasures exhibition in the museum.

They have never been on public view before.
The cities, Heraklion and Canopus, were thriving centres of business and religion for hundreds of years before being destroyed by earthquakes and tsunamis 1,300 years ago.
The cities were full of colossal statues, such as these of Egyptian god and goddess Osiris and Isis.
And I wanted to show you her art...

We all know that Figurative Sculptures set within tableaux reflect her search for serenity and the quiet moments when this inner state becomes apparent.

As a sculptor her intent is to convey a sense of the psychology of the female attribute and intuitive nature. The temporal quality of human existence is an underlying theme implicit in the choice of clay as a sculptural material. Contemplative in nature the sculptures combine sepia toned photo decal imagery with the female

♥ İSTANBUL...

Know Blue Mosque, in Istanbul ?
Istanbul is a wonderful city and the only one that is divided

over 2 continents, as the Bosphorus separates Asia from Europe.

Most of the old city is in the European part and definatly worth a visit.

The Topkapi museum, the Aya Sofia and the many huge Mosques

are impressive, but also the spice Bazar and grand Bazar are

the perfect places to realize that here 2 world cultures merge.

Do not forget to eat a cheap fresh caught and grilled fish in the harbour

The Blue Mosque was nicknamed so due to the many beautiful

blue mosaic tiles, though not much can be seen on this view.

Entrance is free and though

the Mosque is in use as a prayer room,

also non-muslims are welcome and photos can be taken.

The city is a mix of modern western shops and clothing

with traditional eastern culture.

The sound of the calls for prayers in the morning makes you realize that

Islam is the main religion here,

though for me the sounds are just as curious as

the Christian bells that wake YOU up

elsewhere in the world.

No lace pattern-books have been found to have been published in Spain.

The needle-made laces which came out of Spanish monasteries in 1830,

when these institutions were dissolved,

were mostly Venetian needle-made laces.

The humble endeavours of peasantry in England

(which could boast of no schools of design),

Germany, Sweden, Russia and Spain

could not result in work of so high artistic pretension as that of France and Flanders.

In the style of the laces made at Venice, Genoa, Ragusa and other places;

these French imitations were to be called " points de France."

By 1671 the Italian ambassador at Paris writes,

" Gallantly is the minister Colbert on his way to bring the

` lavori d'aria' to perfection."

Six years later an Italian, Domenigo Contarini,

alludes to the " punto in aria," " which the French can now do to admiration."

The styles of design which emanated from the chief of the French lace centre.

In the 8th century good lace was made in Devonshire,

but it is only in recent years that to some extent

the hand lace-makers of England and Ireland

have become impressed with the necessity of well-considered designs for their work.

Silk pillow lace making is carried on in Spain, especially at Barcelona.

The patterns are almost entirely imitations

from 18th-century French ones of a large and free floral character.
